Poem 262: Red, White an Blue

Tears on stained faces of distress
from fallen figures in the future and the past
paint red stripes on pure white intentions
marking lines of freedom sacrificed

stars hung in the skies shout out
singing thanks both silent and aloud
praising lives who've given up their length
to leave our blue-skied freedom here to stay.

red and blue both decorating white
bringing color into living art
and leaving US to shine out bright
in the reds, whites and blues of sacrificial lives.
