Poem 25: Love or Lust

Romeo and Juliet
vowed their love, when first they met
is there a chance that what they meant
was lust, had proved victoriant?

Turtle and the hare in turn
ran a race a prize to earn
one fast, one slow, they did appear
slow, fast, exchanged when end grew near.

Beware friend of what you see
Things which are sometimes will be
yet other times the things that seem
are simply seen through eyes that dream.

  1. Poem 25: Mercy Triumphs

This day I have failed at so many things
I am responding to consequences and
    Forgetting my options

    I have loved and lusted
    Though not over love today
    My friends I have abused
    And my heart has broken

I have been stretched thin to be challenged
Growing these days has been a necessary action
But in spots I have become brittle and broken
I want to have such high expectations

My mouth has rattled, and silenced
And rattled again, my hole I dig
Reacting instead of acting I am throwing
    My responsibility and reputation away

I am becoming brittle and broken

    Christmas food, sugar here
    Work, dry tears
    Oncoming school, great fear
    Comparing, despairing

For what I have lusted is so small
But my shortcoming it reveals is so tall
For what I love I have neglected, not dialected
    And pushed away, slowly

This guitar string I pray will not break

    I have forgotten
I am getting sick, more than I knew
Without intervention, I will be screwed
My body is weak, brittle and broken

There is mercy, it cuts the night
    Remember
    Remember
    Remember

    Mercy Triumphs
